A perfect weekend in October now includes Oktoberfest in Downtown Historic Cedarburg bursting with gemuetlichkeit, Saturday, October 1, 11am-8pm and Sunday, October 2, 10am-5pm presented by Commerce State Bank. Free admission and 2-hour parking limit is lifted on festival weekends.
A huge tent will be erected in the Parking Lot (W63 N641 Washington Avenue) to cover the bands, the dance floor and tables, lending a true Oktoberfest feel. Oktoberfest means authentic German music and the entertainment features Pommersche Tanzdeel Dancers, Tuba Dan, D'Lustig'n Wendlstoana Dancers, Schnapps und Tanz Band, River City Blaskepelle and the Cedarburg Civic Band plus a wooden dance floor for Polka fans. And, if you’ve never seen a live Glockenspiel Show (Cuckoo Clock), this delightful, goofy event will make you laugh as it reappears every two hours.

What to Expect at Oktoberfest?
You will find German foods and beers, wines and German desserts. Festivals of Cedarburg will dish up authentic German dinners, classics like Sauerbraten, Chicken Schnitzel, German Sausage Platter, and other delights. Cedarburg Lion’s will serve Currywurst, Bratwurst and Hotdogs. Guests will also find specialty beers such as Miller Lite, Hofbrau Oktoberfest, Hofbrau, Hacker Pschorr Oktoberfest and Leinenkugel Oktoberfest. We will also be serving award winning wines from Cedar Creek Winery and speciality beer from The Fermentorium.
Silly contests with prize awards include Saturday’s Best Lederhosen/Dirndl Judging Contest, the Sauerkraut Eating Contest and the German Spelling Bee from Ault to Zither (A-Z). We have add a new contest, the Masskrugstemnen (Beer Steinholding Contest).
There will be a merchant’s marketplace on the grounds. While in Cedarburg, be sure to tour the Cedarburg History Museum and Visitor Center, Cedar Creek Winery in the Wittenberg Woolen Mill or better known as the Cedar Creek Settlement (1864), the Wisconsin Museum of Quilts and Fiber Arts and the Cedarburg Art Museum. Most are within walking distance from the Festival.
Stroll along Washington Avenue absorbing the charm and historic ambiance of thriving downtown Cedarburg, chock-full of unique retail shops and restaurants. Founded in the 1840’s, Cedarburg was declared a National Historic District listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The city is home to more than 100 restored and intact buildings of historic significance.
***Please note, pets are not allowed on the festival grounds and festival attendees are asked to support our Oktoberfest by not bringing carry-ins. Alcoholic beverages must be consumed on the festival site. Rain or shine. Shelter is provided.

German Spelling Bee Contest
Saturday, October 1 at 11:45 a.m.
Under the Large Tent - Community Center Parking Lot
If you're the speller in the family, show your real skill in the German Spelling Bee from Ault to Zither (A-Z). All ages are welcome. Free. No sign-up, just show up on stage when announced. Prizes awarded to the last standing.
Masskrugstemnen (Beer Steinholding Contest)
Saturday, October 1 at 3:30 p.m.
Under the Large Tent - Community Center Parking Lot
Stein holding is a traditional Bavarian strength contest in which competitors hold a full one-liter beer stein (or Masskrug/Mass in German) out in front of their bodies with a straight arm, parallel to the ground. You go as long as you can and the last man or woman holding with good form is the winner. No sign-up, just show up on stage when announced. Limit to 6 contestants -- first come. Prizes awarded to the last holding in good form.

If you're truly German, then Sauerkraut must be one of your five food groups and this is the contest for you. Free to enter. No sign-up, just show up on stage when announced. Prize awarded to the winner.
