Winter Festival

February 20-21, 2021
Theme:  DR. SUESS

Calling all dames and fellas!  Festivals of Cedarburg will be putting on the ritz this February as Winter Festival celebrates the "Dr. Suess" from 8am to 9pm on Saturday the 20th, and 8am to 3pm on Sunday the 21st. This two-day festival will feature an Ice Carving Contest, barrel races, Cedarburg’s famous “bed-races on ice,” camel rides, outdoor activities and much more, including a Saturday night, adults-only event! So eat up your green eggs and ham then head down to Cedarburg's Winter Festival.

COMMERCE STATE BANK sponsors this favorite annual festival, and festivities will take place throughout the heart of Cedarburg on Washington Avenue. For those ready to get outside and test their endurance, camel rides, sledding, ice skating, golfing, parades or dog pulls might be in order.  Indoor fun includes chili cook-offs, music, merchant activities, shopping and an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast!

The popular Ice Carving Contest sets the stage along the city’s main street, where 300-pound blocks of ice will be transformed into glistening pieces of theme-inspired art by talented ice carvers – fun to peruse, along with the shops and studios along Washington Avenue and throughout the Cedar Creek Settlement. The Cedarburg History Museum and the Cedarburg Visitors Center is also open during Winter Festival - Cedarburg’s newest museum houses the former General Store Museum and the Rappold-Dobberpuhl historic photograph collection, as well as rotating exhibits.

Join in the spirit of competition and sign your team up for the Cedarburg Lion’s Ice-Burg Open Golf Tournament - 18 rounds of tennis ball golf in Cedar Creek Park, which kicks off at 9am!  Teams can register under “Fun Competitions” at

Fest-goers can shake off the cold at the Chili Contests taking place at the Community Center on Saturday. Celebrity judging will begin at 11 a.m. for Saturday’s competition for individual entrants.  At the same time festival attendees can buy sampler platters and vote for their favorite restaurant entries from 11a.m. - 4 p.m. or while supplies last in the Community Center.

The Cedar Creek Settlement will feature live music from Joey LaVie on Saturday from 1:30pm – 4:30pm and from Bobby Way on Sunday from noon – 3pm. While you’re indoors, stop into Cedar Creek Winery and the other settlement stores for complimentary samplings and unique gifts and treasures in more than 25 boutique shops! The Settlement is open all day, both days during Winter Festival. On the way out register to win a $100 gift basket of Settlement goodies, and enjoy a cup of warm mulled wine from the winery or at stop at the Anvil Pub & Grille’s outdoor snow bar and chili bar.

Be sure to catch the Winter Festival’s Grand Parade at 1 p.m. Saturday, with Dr. Suess-themed bed racing teams as well as fire trucks, costumed characters, and other fun participants. The parade heads down Washington Avenue to the frozen pond of Cedar Creek for the start of the popular and hilarious Costumed Bed Races on Ice Competition at 1:30 p.m., followed by the challenging Barrel Races on Cedar Creek at 2 p.m.  Following the barrel races enjoy open Family Skating on the Mill Pond. The Festive Ice Rink located in Cedar Creek Park will also be open if weather permits.

The Cedarburg Friends of the Library are pleased to offer their Winter Book Sale in the Community Room at the Cedarburg Library during Winter Festival. The Friends are inviting the public to purchase hard cover, trade and paperback fiction for adults and children at this event, all for $2 or less. Watch for days and times.
