Winter Festival

February 16-17, 2019
Theme:  National Lampoon Vacation Movies

Cedarburg’s Winter Festival is celebrating on Saturday, February 16 & Sunday, February 17, 2019.  Festivities will take place throughout the heart of Cedarburg on Washington Avenue on Saturday from 8 am to 9 pm and on Sunday from 8 am to 4 pm.

The popular Ice Carving Contest, sponsored by BMO Harris Bank, sets the stage along the city’s main street, where 300-pound blocks of ice will be transformed into glistening pieces of Vacation Movies-inspired art by talented ice carvers.

A tractor-drawn hay wagon sponsored by Habush, Habush and Rottier, S.C., provides a great view of Cedarburg, but fest-goers who opt to stroll along Washington Avenue can test their endurance by enjoying bed races on ice, camel rides, egg hunts, sledding, ice skating or watching an old-fashioned dog pull and much more.

Be sure to make a stop at the Cedarburg History Museum and Visitor Center located on Columbia Avenue at Portland, during Winter Festival! Doors will be open Saturday, February 16 from 10 am - 4 pm and Sunday, February 17 from 12 - 4 pm.  Cedarburg’s treasure houses the former General Store Museum as well as a current exhibit.

Jo-Don Farms will be at the Community Center o Saturday and Sunday from 10 - 4 pm providing the camel rides for a fee and a petting zoo.  The Cedarburg Lion’s Club will tee-off in the snow during the IceBurg Open Golf Tournament, where golfers play 18 holes of golf in and around Cedar Creek Park, snow or no snow.  To register, go to our fun competitions page.

Fest-goers can shake off the cold on Saturday at the Chili Contests taking place at the Community Center. Celebrity judging will begin at 11am for Saturday’s contest for individual entrants and while the audience members watch, they can win great prizes donated by our generous downtown merchants.

Coinciding with the individual chili contest, festival attendees can buy restaurant chili sampler from the Festival Food Booth and vote for their favorite restaurant entries from 11 am - 4 pm in the Community Center.

In addition to the restaurant chili sampler, Festivals will be serving hot dogs, BBQ pork sandwiches, and Out & Out Chili by the bowl.  You can also stop by our Easy Cheesy Grilled Cheese booth to get a grilled cheese sandwich and/or a cup of tomato soup

The Wisconsin Museum of Quilts & Fiber Arts will host a "make and take" along with coffee/cocoa and sweets bar on Saturday, and don't forget to trek upstairs for the “Upstairs Marketplace” with mittens, jewelry, lotions, art, breads, dips, soaps and much more.

The Cedar Creek Settlement will feature live music on the Settlement’s main floor, Bobby Way from 1:30 - 4:30 pm Saturday, and Joe LaVie from noon - 3 pm on Sunday. While you’re indoors, stop at the Cedar Creek Winery and the other settlement stores for complimentary samplings and unique gifts and treasures in more than 25 boutique shops!  Some shops will be offering crafts & activities in celebration of the festival.  On the way out a stop at the Anvil Pub & Grille’s outdoor bar and chili bar.

Be sure to catch the Winter Festival Grand Parade at 1 pm Saturday, with themed bed racing teams as well as fire trucks, costumed characters, and other fun participants. The parade begins at the Weil Pump Parking Lot located on Western at Hanover, then heads down Washington Avenue to Bridge Roa and finally onto Riveredge Drive for the start of the popular and hilarious Costumed Bed Races at 1:30 pm.
